The Nationals have signed 28-year old lefty swinging catcher Kris Watts to a minor league deal. Watts played in 48 games in AA+AAA-ball for the Nationals and Pirates last year and he was 23 of 133 (.173 avg, .535 OPS) with 9 runs scored, 1 homer and 11 RBIs. He has now played in 499 games in his first seven years in the minors and he is 393 of 1,560 (.252 avg, .725 OPS) with 196 runs scored, 27 homers, 184 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. Watts will likely start the 2013 season in AAA-ball for the Nationals.
