The Washington Nationals sign Caleb Clay
The Nationals have signed 24-year old righty reliever/starter Caleb Clay to a minor league deal. Clay pitched in 34 games (1 start) in AA-ball for the Red Sox last year and he was 3-3 with 9 saves, a 4.61 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. He has now pitched in 120 games (51 starts) in his first six years in the minors and he is 15-28 with 13 saves, a 4.70 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. He is likely going to start the 2013 season in AA or AAA-ball for the Nationals.
