The Washington Nationals sign SS Brian Bocock

The Nationals have signed 27-year old righty swinging shortstop Brian Bocock to a minor league deal. He played in 93 games in AA+AAA-ball for the Blue Jays last year and he was 82 of 346 (.237 avg, .625 OPS) with 39 runs scored, 2 homers, 34 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. Bocock last played in the majors in 2010 with the Phillies. He has now played in 38 games in his first two years in the majors and he is 11 of 82 (.134 avg, .391 OPS) with 6 runs scored, 0 homers, 2 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Bocock will likely start the 2013 season in AAA-ball for the Nationals.
