The Washington Nationals have re-signed Adam LaRoche
The Nationals have re-signed 33-year old lefty swinging 1B Adam LaRoche to a 2-year, $24 million dollar deal with a mutual option for 2015. LaRoche played in 154 games for the Nationals last year and he was 155 for 571 (.271 avg, .853 OPS) with 76 runs scored, 33 homers, 100 RBIs and 1 stolen base. He has now played in 197 games in his first two years with the Nationals and he is 181 of 722 (.251 avg, .788 OPS) with 91 runs scored, 36 homers, 115 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. LaRoche has now played in 1,186 games in his first 9 years in the majors and he is 1,114 of 4,159 (.268 avg, .820 OPS) with 568 runs scored, 197 homers, 684 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. This was a solid move for the Nationals as it will free them up to trade Mike Morse to the highest bidder.
