Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 28 November 2006 at 10:11 am

The Wizards fought until the last second, but just couldn’t keep up with the Pistons on Saturday Night.  Gilbert Arenas scored 28 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and 10 assists. The Wizards have fallen to 4-9 on the season with this loss.

Wizards look awful in 95-80 loss to Grizzlies

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 28 November 2006 at 2:39 am

The Wizards were downright terrible on Friday Night against the Grizzlies.  Gilbert Arenas had his worst game in a long time.  Arenas only hit 1 of 12 from the floor and finished the game with 3 points and 6 assists.  Caron Butler had a great game with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists.  DeShawn Stevenson added 14 points.  Antwan Jamison had a solid game with 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Etan Thomas was providing the muscle under the basket with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

The Wizards fell to 4-8 on the season with this loss.

Wizards act as if a lid is on the basket in 86-82 loss to Rockets

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 23 November 2006 at 2:04 am

It’s really amazing that the Wizards kept this game close when you consider A.) The Wizards only shot 33.3% from the floor as a team and B.) They were out-rebounded 57-44 by the Rockets!

Gilbert Arenas had a lousy shooting night (8 of 26), but he still finished with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists.  Caron Butler was doing some of the heavy lifting with 14 points and 12 rebounds.  Antonio Daniels chipped in with 11 points off the bench.  Antwan Jamison had a solid game with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The Wizards fell to 4-7 on the season with this loss.

Wizards get smoked in second half and lose 107-80

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 22 November 2006 at 9:42 pm

The game was tied 51-51 at halftime, and then the Mavericks got serious and beat the Wizards 56-29 in the second half.  The Wizards were tossing alot of bricks up on Tuesday Night as they only hit 35.5% from the floor.  The Wizards were also out-rebounded 57-43 by the Mavericks.

Gilbert Arenas led the way for the Wizards with 29 points and 6 rebounds but he only hit 9 of 25 shots.  Caron Butler had 12 points and 11 rebounds.  DeShawn Stevenson (10 points), Antonio Daniels (10 points) and Antwan Jamison (9 points, 9 rebounds) all pitched in.

The Wizards have fallen to 4-6 on the season.

Wizards pound the Cavs 111-99

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 21 November 2006 at 11:31 am

The score really doesn’t indicate the beating that the Wizards put on the Cavs Saturday night.  Gilbert Arenas was awesome with 45 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.  Antwan Jamison had a decent game with 16 points & 8 rebounds.  DeShawn Stevenson had a good game with 15 points and 4 assists.  Caron Bulter was very active in the paint as he scored 11 points & grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Wizards needed a win badly and they got it to improve to 4-5 on the season.

Wizards fall again 100-91 to the Pistons

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 18 November 2006 at 2:15 am

The Wizards had one bad quarter….the third, in which the Pistons out-scored the Wizards 31-15.  The Wizards could not recover from that terrible quarter.

Caron Butler led the way with 24 points & 7 rebounds.  Gilbert Arenas was only 7 of 20 from the floor as he finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.  Antonio Daniels played well off the bench and scored 15 points.  Antwan Jamison also had a bad night shooting (3 of 12) and he finished with 8 points & 8 rebounds.

The Wizards fell to 3-5 on the season.

The Wizards forget they have a game and get thrashed 102-82 by the Knicks

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 16 November 2006 at 10:21 am

The Wizards played the worst game that they’ve had in a long time.  The Wizards only shot 31.5% and were out-rebounded 52-39…..by the KNICKS!

Gilbert Arenas was tossing up bricks all night long as he only hit 5 of 19 from the floor.  Arenas finished the game with 22 points & 5 assists.  Antwan Jamison had a decent game with 20 points and 9 rebounds.  Caron Butler chipped in with 18 points and 5 rebounds.  Nobody else back-up the Big 3 for the Wizards last night.

The Wizards have to bring it against the teams they should beat.  That was a lousy effort last night as the Wizards fell to 3-4 on the season.

Centers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 14 November 2006 at 8:20 pm

Etan Thomas will start for the Wizards this season.  All the Wizards want from their centers is good rebounding & defense.  Those qualities were Thomas’ strength in college at Syracuse.  Thomas has averaged 6.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game over his career.  Thomas could easily double those averages with the added playing time he’s going to get this season.

Brendan Haywood will be the back-up.  Haywood has a similar skill-set that Thomas has.  Haywood has averaged 7.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game over his NBA career.

Calvin Booth won’t get much playing time, but he’s a good defender.  Booth has averaged 3.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game over his career.

Small Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 14 November 2006 at 8:13 pm

Caron Butler had the best season of his four year career last season.  He averaged 17.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last year.  Butler is the #3 option on the offense for the Wizards and he plays tough defense.  For his career, Butler has averaged 14.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Second year player Andray Blatche will be one of the back-ups at small forward.  Blatche didn’t get much playing time as a rookie and only averaged 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
