Etan Thomas still out

Blogged under Front Page, Injuries by Nothing but Net on Saturday 23 December 2006 at 2:33 pm

It’s a shame that Etan Thomas sprained his left ankle and has missed some time, because he was really playing well so far this season.  Thomas was only playing 21.4 minutes per game, but he was scoring 7.1 points, grabbing 6.6 rebounds and blocking 1.8 shots per game so far this season.  He and Brendan Haywood really made a nice team at the center position for the Wizards.  The Wizards have been lucky because Brendan Haywood has really stepped up for the Wizards with his increased playing time due to Thomas’ injury.

Wizards snap Suns winning streak 144-139 in OT

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 23 December 2006 at 1:21 pm

What a fun game this was to watch.  Neither team decided to play any defense, but the Wizards shot an amazing 53.5% from the floor which was a little too much for the Suns to overcome.  Gilbert Arenas had an awesome game.  Arenas scored 54 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.  Caron Butler backed up Arenas with 34 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals.  DeShawn Stevenson pitched in with 18 points and 6 rebounds.  Antwan Jamison (15 points, 12 rebounds) and Brendan Haywood (14 points, 12 rebounds) provided the needed muscle inside.

The Wizards improved to 14-12 on the season with this huge road victory.

Wizards flat in 117-108 loss to Nuggets

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 19 December 2006 at 4:18 am

The Wizards looked pretty tired after playing such a tough game with the Lakers the night before.  The Wizards fell behind 65-46 at halftime and never really made it a game.  The Wizards only shot 39.3% from the floor.  Their still is no excuse to lose to a team with it’s top 2 scorers suspended because of the fight with the Knicks over the weekend.

Caron Butler had a very good game with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.  Gilbert Arenas had a rough night shooting (10 of 30) and still wound up with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.  Antwan Jamison had a decent game with 21 points and 9 rebounds.  DeShawn Stevenson added 16 points and 3 assists.

The Wizards fell to 12-12 on the season with this loss.

Caron Butler steppin up his play

Blogged under Front Page, Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Monday 18 December 2006 at 8:02 pm

Caron Butler has been a starting player in the NBA since the day he was drafted.  He’s now taken all the lessons he learned early in his career and he’s using that knowledge to his advantage on the basketball court.  He’s averaging 18.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game so far this season.  He really gives a great effort every night and that has helped the Wizards overcome an iffy defense now that Butler has joined powers with Gilbert Arenas and Antwan Jamison as they try to outscore everyone they play.  Hopefully they don’t wear themselves out by doing this.

The Wizards win an amazing game in OT 147-141 over the Lakers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 18 December 2006 at 9:28 am

What a fun game to watch.  Arenas vs. Kobe was everything anyone could have thought it would be…..and more.  Gilbert was on absolute fire as he was hitting shots from everywhere on the floor.  He put up 60 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals.  The Wiz couldn’t stop Kobe either as he rolled up 45 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists.  Arenas had help too.  Caron Butler had a good game with 27 points and 5 assists.  Antwan Jamison hit the boards as he scored 25 points and snatched 13 rebounds.  DeShawn Stevenson added 15 points.  Brendan Haywood was tough on defense as he only scored 4 points, but he grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.

The Wizards improved to 12-11 with this win.

The Wizards jump the Heat early and make it stand, 106-95

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 16 December 2006 at 10:59 am

The Wizards jumped the Heat 40-17 in the first quarter last night and made it stand.  The Heat were without Dwyane Wade and Shaq, but it didn’t matter because you have to win the games in the division and the Wizards did that.  Caron Butler led the Wizards with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots.  Gilbert Arenas also had a great game with 27 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals.  Antwan Jamison was also real good with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.

The Wizards are now 11-11 with the win last night.
