Could the Washington Wizards be shopping Caron Butler right now?

Blogged under Big Wizards News, Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 29 December 2009 at 6:10 pm

The Wizards’ season has been very disappointing so far but I don’t think it’s right to give up quite yet. If they trade starting small forward Caron Butler I think the Wizards will be hoisting up the White Flag and it’s way too early to do that in the Eastern Conference which is really weak. Butler has played in 27 games (all starts) this season and he is averaging 38.6 minutes, 17.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. I think it would be a mistake to trade Butler right now unless the return improves the team both now and down the road and I don’t see that happening.

The Wizards only shot 39.5% from the floor last night and they were outrebounded 56-45. But, it wasn’t until the 4th quarter when the T-Wolves outscored them 33-22 that the Wizards were doomed. Gilbert Arenas led the way for the Wizards with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists on only 10 of 28 shooting from the floor. Antwan Jamison had a decent game with 20 points and 6 rebounds in this game. Randy Foye pitched in with 16 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists last night. The Wizards are now 10-18 on the year.

The Wizards shot 52.9% from the floor last night and it was a main reason for the win. Antwan Jamison led the way for the Wizards last night with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Caron Butler was also very busy last night with 23 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Gilbert Arenas pitched in with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 steals. The Wizards are now 10-17 on the year.

The Wizards came up huge in the 4th quarter outscoring the 76ers 33-19 to run away with a nice win. Gilbert Arenas was on his game as he finished up with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Earl Boykins had another great game off the bench for the Wizards with 18 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Caron Butler only shot 4 of 11 from the floor but he still pitched in with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. The Wizards are now 9-17 on the year.

Phoenix Suns 121, Washington Wizards 95

The Wizards only shot 36.4% from the floor last night as they looked too tired to run around with the Suns the night after the track meet with the Warriors. Gilbert Arenas only shot 6 of 21 from the floor but he still finished up with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in only 24 minutes. Nick Young had a solid game with 20 points and 5 rebounds in 28 minutes on the floor. Antwan Jamison pitched in with 15 points and 4 rebounds in 29 minutes. The Wizards are now 8-17 on the year.

Washington Wizards 118, Golden State Warriors 109

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Game Recaps, General by alleyoop on Saturday 19 December 2009 at 9:37 am

The Wizards shot 50% from the floor and they outrebounded the Warriors 47-39 last night which were two big reasons for the nice win. Gilbert Arenas led the way for the Wizards last night with a stunning line of 45 points, 3 rebounds and 13 assists. Caron Butler was also outstanding last night with 28 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. Brendan Haywood was a beast inside with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Wizards are now 8-16 on the year.

Washington Wizards 109, Sacramento Kings 112

Blogged under Big Wizards News, Bloglockers, Game Recaps, General by Andrew on Thursday 17 December 2009 at 6:58 pm

The Washington Wizards (7-16) had a great chance to win against the Sacramento Kings (11-13) Wednesday night, but Kings’ rookie Tyreke Evans picked Gilbert Arenas’ pocket before “Agent Zero” could get a shot off with the Wizards down one.  Arenas still doesn’t look 100% after coming off his third knee surgery coming into this season.  Still, he has played well and finished with 33 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals.  It was disappointing to see him fail so badly in the clutch, but Tyreke Evans is a heck of a rookie.  Evans led the Kings with 26 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 huge steal.  The Wizards still should have one this game though, so it was a disappointing road loss. (7-16)

Earl Boykins is playing well for the Washington Wizards

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 15 December 2009 at 11:37 am

The Wizards are very happy with the performance of Earl Boykins since they signed him. Boykins has played in 14 games (0 starts) for the Wizards this season and he is averaging 21.1 minutes, 9.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. The Wizards need Boykins to keep up the good work because he always seems to give them a spark off the bench.

Randy Foye has been awful so far this year for the Washington Wizards

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 15 December 2009 at 11:33 am

The Wizards expected so much more than they are getting from Randy Foye this season. He has played in 21 games (2 starts) for the Wizards this season and he is averaging 6.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Foye is only shooting 37.6% from the floor and if he keeps heaving up bricks the Wizards will have no choice but to keep him on the bench. The Wizards need Foye to step up and play like he did in Minnesota because they were depending on him to produce when they traded for him.

The Wizards only shot 38.8% from the floor last night and it killed them on the scoreboard. Antwan Jamison led the way for the Wizards last night with 32 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. Caron Butler also had a solid game with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Gilbert Arenas only shot 4 of 14 from the floor but he still finished up with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. The Wizards are now 7-15 on the year.
