Rashard Lewis is off to a decent start for the Washington Wizards

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by admin on Tuesday 28 December 2010 at 8:39 pm

The Washington Wizards are using Rashard Lewis at small forward which is a better spot for him after playing power forward with the Magic.  Lewis has played in 3 games (2 starts) so far for the Wizards and he is averaging 36.0 minutes, 13.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.  He is only shooting 40% from the floor and 26.7% (4 of 15) from three point range so far with the Wizards but those numbers are going to improve soon as he’s too good to keep that up.  He should fit in well with his new team.

The Wizards were without Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee due to team suspensions but they still outrebounded the Spurs 51-44! Too bad the Wizards only shot 37.5% from the floor as that is what did them in. Kirk Hinrich also had a solid game with 15 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals last night. Blogged under Big Wizards News, Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Tuesday 21 December 2010 at 7:21 pm

The Wizards have re-signed 26-year old shooting guard Lester Hudson. Hudson played in 7 games (0 starts) earlier this year for the Wizards and he averaged 6.3 minutes, 1.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He has now played in 32 games (0 starts) in his first two years in the NBA and he is averaging 5.5 minutes, 2.1 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Hudson will likely get more P.T. then he did the first time around for the Wizards.

The Wizards melted down in the final seconds of this game with bad fouls, turnovers and missed free throws as they should have won this game. Nick Young got the start at shooting guard and he led the way for the Wizards in this game with 30 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 46 minutes on the floor. Andray Blatche returned to action after missing a little time due to injury and he had 20 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 1 blocked shot. Kirk Hinrich only shot 4 of 16 from the floor but he still finished up with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 12 assists and 2 steals in 48 minutes on the floor. Al Thornton pitched in with 10 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists in this game. The Wizards are now 6-19 after this very disappointing loss.

The Washington Wizards deal Gilbert Arenas to the Magic

Blogged under Big Wizards News, Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Saturday 18 December 2010 at 5:42 pm

The Washington Wizards have dealt 28-year old SG/PG Gilbert Arenas to the Orlando Magic for 31-year old small forward Rashard Lewis. Arenas played in 21 games (14 starts) for the Wizards this year and he averaged 34.6 minutes, 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game. The handwriting was on the wall when Agent Zero was treating the locker room like the O.K. Corral that his time was short in Washington. That being said, he was one of the better players in Washington Wizards’ history and I think he has a lot left in the gas tank and he’s going to prove that in Orlando.

Rashard Lewis played in 25 games (all starts) for the Magic this season and he averaged 32.4 minutes, 12.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Lewis has now played in 874 games (785 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 34.4 minutes, 16.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Lewis will likely benefit from this move as the Wizards will likely play him at his natural small forward position. In the end though, this deal was about money to the Wizards as Agent Zero is a much better basketball player then Rashard Lewis is.
