Blogged under Big Wizards News, Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Monday 28 February 2011 at 3:31 pm

The Washington Wizards have bought out 32-year old point guard Mike Bibby. Bibby played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Wizards after coming over in a deal with the Hawks and he averaged 14.5 minutes, 1.0 point, 1.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Bibby only shot 1 of 9 (11.1%) from the floor and he was 0 for 4 from three point range as he had a rough time with the Wizards. He left significant money on the table to take the buy out from the Wizards. Don’t be surprised if Bibby winds up on the Miami Heat.

Jordan Crawford was decent off the bench in his second game for the Wizards with 10 points, 2 assists and 2 steals in only 17 minutes on the floor. The Wizards are now 15-43 on the team.

Nick Young led the way for the Wizards last night with 38 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. John Wall was excellent running the offense as he finished up with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 12 assists last night. JaVale McGee also was solid inside with 18 points, 17 rebounds and 1 steal last night. The Wizards are now 15-42 on the year.

The Wizards were outscored 64-33 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters last night and it killed them! The Wizards were outrebounded 49-34 last night and they allowed the Sixers to shot 51.3% from the floor and it did them in. The Washington Wizards deal Kirk Hinrich to the Hawks

Blogged under Big Wizards News, Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Wednesday 23 February 2011 at 10:57 pm

The Washington Wizards have dealt 30-year old guard Kirk Hinrich and 26-year old center Hilton Armstrong to the Hawks for 32-year old point guard Mike Bibby, 32-year old SG/SF Maurice Evans, 22-year old guard Jordan Crawford and a 1st round pick. Mike Bibby is starting to slow down but he will likely back up John Wall the rest of this season. Bibby has played in 56 games (all starts) for the Hawks this season and he averaged 29.9 minutes, 9.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists on 44.1% shooting from 3-point range. Bibby has now played in 938 games (934 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 35.0 minutes, 15.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Maurice Evans is a veteran who could give the Wizards solid minutes off the bench. Evans played in 47 games (12 starts) for the Hawks this season and he was averaging 17.8 minutes, 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He has now played in 51 games (111 starts) in his NBA career so far and he is averaging 19.3 minutes, 6.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Jordan Crawford was the Hawks’ first round pick this season but he was buried on the bench. He played in 16 games (0 starts) for the Hawks this season and he averaged 10.0 minutes, 4.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game on only 35.1% shooting from the floor. Crawford has a nice upside.

Kirk Hinrich played in 48 games (29 starts) for the Wizards this season and he averaged 30.6 minutes, 11.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Hinrich was the #3 guard for the Wizards but he will start at point guard for the Hawks. Hilton Armstron played in 41 games (2 starts) for the Wizards this season and he averaged 10.0 minutes, 1.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.

I think this was a outstanding deal for the Wizards as they essentially got two first round picks for Kirk Hinrich.

The Wizards only shot 39.8% from the floor last night and it killed them in this game. Andray Blatche led the way for the Wizards last night with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Nick Young (4 of 15) and John Wall (5 of 15) were putting up a lot of bricks in this game for the Wizards. Young finished up with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists while Wall put up 15 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists last night. Josh Howard pitched in with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists last night in 29 minutes on the floor. The Wizards are now 15-40 on the year.

The Washington Wizards season is already in the toilet

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 February 2011 at 10:52 am

The Washington Wizards figured this year was going to be a tough one. But, they still thought that they would be better than they are right now. The Wizards are 15-39 on the year which has them in last place in the Southeast Division, 25 games behind the Miami Heat. The Wizards are 13th in the Eastern Conference right now as they are 25 games behind the Heat & Celtics. The Wizards are only six games better than the Cleveland Cavs for the worst record in the NBA and that speaks volumes about their year so far.

BIGGEST SURPRISE: After the Wizards dealt Gilbert Arenas to the Magic, 25-year old Nick Young moved into the starting lineup and he has been an offensive force ever since then. Young has played in 52 games (29 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 31.6 minutes, 17.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Nick Young & John Wall give the Wizards hope as they have the potential to develop into one of the better guard combinations in the NBA.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: 23-year old “power” forward Yi Jianlian has been a complete bust for the Wizards as he is softer than a roll of Charmin. Yi has played in 35 games (2 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 16.4 minutes, 5.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. The Wizards are likely stuck with Yi the rest of this year so they hope he starts showing some heart at some point this season.

John Wall led the way for the Wizards tonight with 27 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot on 10 of 17 shooting from the floor. Andray Blatche filled up the stat sheet with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot but he didn’t shoot well. Kirk Hinrich pitched in 10 points, 1 rebound and 3 assists off the bench. The Wizards are now 15-39 on the year.

The Wizards shot 54.3% from the floor and they built up a 68-46 lead in the first half and never looked back. Nick Young led the way for the Wizards yesterday with 31 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. John Wall (19 points, 5 rebounds, 14 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots) and Andray Blatche (17 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot) also had great games for the Wizards last night in Cleveland. Kirk Hinrich (17 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots) and Josh Howard (16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot) also pitched in with solid games for the Wizards. The Wizards are now 1-25 on the road this season and 15-38 overall.

San Antonio Spurs 118, Washington Wizards 94

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Game Recaps, General by alleyoop on Sunday 13 February 2011 at 2:42 pm

The Wizards didn’t play any D last night as the Spurs shot 58.4% from the floor, so the final score should come as little surprise. Andray Blatche led the way for the Wizards last night with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot. Cartier Martin was outstanding off the bench with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot in 35 minutes as he was one of the few Wizards who truly came to play last night. JaVale McGee pitched in with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 1 blocked shot also helped out for the Wizards last night. The Wizards are now 14-38 on the year.
