Flip Saunders had another rough year for the Washington Wizards

56-year old head coach Flip Saunders had another year to forget for the Wizards as he led them to a 23-59 (28%) record. In his defense, the team was really young and suffered a lot of injuries. Still, the new owners had to expect the team would have been a tad better last year. The Wizards are now 49-115 (29.9%) in there first two years under Saunders and that just isn’t going to cut it. Saunders now has a career record of 636-511 (55.4%) during the regular season and he is 47-51 (48%) during the playoffs. If the Wizards get more talent for Saunders to coach, I think he will start winning as he does have a nice track record.

Nick Young finally showed he could play last year for the Washington Wizards

25-year old shooting guard Nick Young finally got extended minutes last year from the Wizards and he looked pretty good. Young played in 64 games (40 starts) for the Wizards last year and he averaged 31.8 minutes, 17.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. He has now played in 295 games (70 starts) in his first four years with the Wizards and he averaged 21.9 minutes, 10.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. The thing that really drives me nuts about Young is that he only seems to care about scoring as he doesn’t like to rebound, pass or play defense.
