John Wall is going to run the offense for the Washington Wizards again in 2011-12

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Positional Previews by alleyoop on Wednesday 19 October 2011 at 3:28 pm

21-year old point guard John Wall had a very solid rookie year in 2010-11 for the Wizards, when healthy. Wall played in 69 games (64 starts) for the Wizards last year and he averaged 37.8 minutes, 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game. The Wizards hope that Wall has worked on his shooting during the lockout. He only shot 40.9% from the floor, 29.6% from three point range and 76.6% from the free throw line last year. 21-year old rookie Shelvin Mack out of Butler (a 2nd rounder) will get a shot to backup John Wall if a veteran isn’t signed before the 2011-12 season begins.

The Washington Wizards will need to fill out the bench when the lockout is lifted

The Washington Wizards have a very exciting bunch of young players who will fill out the starting lineup. They will need to bring in some veteran role players to fill out the bench and the roster. The thing the Wizards need most are guys that can shoot from long range to help spread the court. Guys like Jason Kapono, James Jones and Brian Cardinal aren’t sexy names but they would be good fits for the Wizards coming off the bench. Don’t look for the Wizards to bring in big names in free agency, but the guys they bring in could have a big impact.
