The Washington Wizards need to start playing their rookies more the rest of the year

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Rookie Reports by alleyoop on Saturday 3 March 2012 at 4:49 pm

With this season pretty much lost, the Wizards have no excuse not to start giving their rookies more P.T. the rest of the season. 22-year old SG/PG Shelvin Mack is blocked pretty good on the depth chart with John Wall, Nick Young and Jordan Crawford all ahead of him. Mack has played in 33 games (0 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 10.5 minutes, 3.3 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. 22-year old small forward Chris Singleton is having a rough time so far this year. He has played in 35 games (20 starts) for the Wizards so far this season and he is averaging 19.9 minutes, 4.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is only shooting 36.7% from the floor so far this year and that’s pretty awful for a player his size. Still, the Wizards should continue to give him more P.T. to see what he can do with it. 21-year old power forward Jan Vesely has played in 28 games (5 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 14.9 minutes, 2.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He has a huge upside so the Wizards should just turn him loose soon. The Wizards have nothing to lose in giving Mack, Singleton and Vesely more P.T. the rest of the year.
