The Washington Wizards should hold onto JaVale McGee

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Steppin Up by alleyoop on Sunday 11 March 2012 at 10:38 am

24-year old center JaVale McGee is rumored to be on the trading block this week. The Wizards should keep McGee as he is a force on the boards and defensively. McGee has played in 39 games (38 starts) for the Wizards so far this year and he is averaging 27.4 minutes, 11.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 2.5 blocked shots per game. McGee is shooting 53.2% from the floor so far this year, but most of his shots are from in close with a lot of them being putbacks and dunks. He still can’t make a free throw to save his life as he is only hitting 47.7% of his shots from the charity stripe. If McGee improves his free throw shooting, he will be one of the better all-around centers in the NBA and he is still very young. This is not the kind of player the Wizards should be trading, period.
