Blogged under Big Wizards News, Bloglockers, Comings & Goings, Front Page, General by joelapinski on Thursday 21 February 2013 at 1:28 pm

The Wizards have dealt 24-year old guard Jordan Crawford to the Boston Celtics for 30-year old SG/SF Leandro Barbosa.  Crawford played in 43 games (12 starts) for the Wizards this year and he averaged 26.2 minutes, 13.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.  He played in 133 games (62 starts) in his three years with the Wizards and he averaged 28.2 minutes, 14.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.  The Wizards must have really wanted to deal Crawford, as Leandro Barbosa is out for the rest of the 2012-13 season due to a torn ACL.

UPDATE:  The Wizards are also getting 34-year old center Jason Collins from the Celtics.  Collins played in 32 games (7 starts) for the Celtics this year and he averaged 10.3 minutes, 1.2 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  He is only shooting 34.8% from the floor so far this year.  Collins has now played in 707 games (474 starts) in his first 12 years in the NBA and he is averaging 20.9 minutes, 3.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.

The Wizards have waived 23-year old guard Shelvin Mack. Mack played in 64 games (0 starts) as a rookie for the Wizards last year and he averaged 12.2 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. This was a little bit of a surprise to me due to the fact that John Wall is going to miss a huge chuck of the early season for the Wizards due to injury. I think Mack will hook on with another team at some point this year.
